The pen tip is protected with a wax cap to prevent drying, this must be removed before use.

It is recommended to use a softer material like practice skin, canvas etc. and a light pressure for art to prevent issues with too much resistance for the machine motor as paper on a hard suface does not allow for a softer impact like the intended machine use of needle on skin would.

If not used properly the resistance and impact from a hard surface may cause damage or even breakage of your machine that the machine warranty won't cover.
