This effect is perfect for creating a blurred background, a photographic bokeh-like effect, blending colours with a soft transition. With Kwadron Soft Edge Magnum you will make the edges of the image blur into the skin instead of being outlined.
The curvature of the needles in this cartridge creates what is known as a haze when shading, i.e. a more intense colour in the centre and a shadow cast on the outside. Ideal for creating tonal, smooth transitions, fading effects and the like. Great for filling in black or colour, softer shading (less traumatic to the skin), as in portraits, realism or blurred backgrounds.

Long Taper version is available in 3 needle thicknesses: 0,25 mm (#08), 0,30 mm (#10) and 0,35 mm (#12). Not only are the needles marked 0.35(#12) larger than those marked 0.30 (#10) or 0.25 (#08), but also the distances between the needles in their configuration are larger. Therefore, while a 0.35/15 Magnum needle, for example, will allow you to quickly fill a large tattoo area with colour, the 0.30/15 magnum configuration will be slightly smaller, despite having the same number of needles, because their spacing is closer together.
Using a 0.30 (#10) needle size provides a smoother application of colour to the skin, will allow for softer shading and make smoother transitions between black and grey. The smallest size of 0.25(#08) will allow for fine detail, for example in portraits it allows for several passes over the skin, which minimises skin damage but will slow down the work.
Medium Taper version is available in 0,35 mm (#12) thickness. Medium Tapered needles are used to create thicker, wider, more old-school result, allowing more needle-to-skin contact to push more ink under the skin.
